The Early Career Network is open to Post-Doctoral Researchers, Post-Graduate students and Research Assistants working in the Scottish Oceans Institute of the University of St Andrews. Many of us come from the Sea Mammal Research Unit, but any early career biologist here in St Andrews is more than welcome to come join our sessions.
The group meets to discuss project ideas, share resources and learn from others’ experiences within research. We have weekly meetings for discussion on one or two themes, an online network to share resources, and an email list to be used for general advice and for help with proof-reading of manuscripts and applications. By helping each other and sharing resources, we hope to aid biologists in getting through this difficult stage in a career in science.
Our meetings aim to address whatever our members feel they currently need help with, providing a responsive support system with a relaxed, friendly environment. Meetings range from informal discussion groups about a topic, practise presentation sessions and we hope in the future to have a few formally lead talks by senior members of staff within the department.
If you would like to join, please contact us to be added to the mailing list.
